Surveillance footage captures woman dumping cat at Limestone County Veterinary Clinic

LIMESTONE COUNTY, Ala. (WAFF) - Surveillance footage captured a vicious moment at the Limestone County Veterinary Clinic on Thursday.

The footage shows the moment a lady walks up to the building, with a cat in her arm. Just seconds later, she walks out empty-handed before rushing into her car.

Shelter leaders say she stepped through the front door before tossing the helpless animal inside and running away.

Witnesses say she was in such a hurry to get away that she even caused a car accident on the way out.

“It’s not helpful to the cat. It’s not helpful to the animal shelter that’s already swimming in animals,” said Dr. Elisabeth O’Connor of the Limestone County Veterinary Clinic. “There are protocols for a reason. It makes it so we can care for as many animals as possible in an orderly fashion, and when you do stuff like this, it puts a burden on society.”

While the timestamp on the surveillance video shows 2:30 p.m., shelter leaders say the woman came in at around 11:30 a.m.

Dr. O’Connor says the shelter is now working to get the kitty vaccinated and checked out before it can be adopted.

Dumping animals is illegal in the state of Alabama, and could be punishable by a fine or even jail time.
